Jorge Antonio Olvera Mateos

A lawyer with solid experience in Intellectual Property and a privileged insight into the challenges and opportunities entrepreneurs, creators, and inventors face. It has allowed him to develop a strategic and pragmatic approach to legal solutions for his clients.
He has served as Deputy Director of Legislation, Consultation, and Transparency at CONACYT, Director of the Committee on Arbitrary Detentions, Head of the Department of the Committee on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights, and Executive Professional of Specialized Services at CEAV.
Furthermore, he has advised entrepreneurs to protect their intangible assets and manage Intellectual Property portfolios. This experience has given him a comprehensive and practical perspective to address the legal and business issues his clients may encounter.
He has completed various Intellectual Property courses from WIPO, USPTO, EUIPO, EPO, UKIPO, Fish & Richardson, P.C, BARDEHLE PAGENBERG, as well as courses in Personal Data (INAI), Inequalities in Latin America and the Caribbean (UNESCO), Self-Sustainable Community Development (IIS-UNAM); and diplomas in Social Research Methodology (IIJ-UNAM) and History of Mexico in the 19th and 20th centuries (INEHRM).
In 2021, he obtained a Master’s in Law from UNAM with the thesis “The Historicist Conception of Law by Vico, Savigny, and Maine: Elements for an Intellectual Historiography of Law.” The defense of this thesis received an Honorable Mention from the examining board.
In 2014, he obtained a Specialization in Human Rights from UNAM with the thesis “The Pro Persona Principle and Norms in Human Rights: Towards the Design of an Implementation Scheme.” The defense of this thesis received an Honorable Mention from the examining board.
In 2011, he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Law from UNAM with the thesis “Extending the Holder’s Right to Active Suffrage in the Mexican Legal System.” This research won 1st place in the Fifth National Thesis Contest on National Legal Provisions.
In 2017, he participated in the compilation of the book “Mexican Constitutional Doctrine,” published by the Ministry of Culture, INEHRM, the Senate of the Republic, and IIJ-UNAM. He also received recognition from UNAM as an Advisor in the “Dr. Gustavo Baz Prada” Social Service Award.
He is a member of Amnesty International and has collaborated with the Center for Human Rights “Fray Francisco de Vitoria, O.P.,” Servicios a la Juventud, A.C., UNICEF, and the International AIDS Society. In his free time, he plays chess and self-studies in Poetry, Intellectual History, and Horology; he considers himself passionate about EDM and Latin urban genres.
